Mission. Provide the best marine safety training in the world
by using state of the art training facilities and experienced motivated
instructors while expanding global leadership in research and marine safety
education.Result. Our training expertise is continually reflected through the lives we save today, and the lives we will save tomorrow. Since June 1989, MSTC has brought more than 75,000 offshore workers up-to-date in water safety and survival techniques. It is the only facility of its kind in the United States and is located on a 60-acre lake site adjacent to the Lafayette Regional Airport. Creation. On May 25, 1988, the Marine Survival Training Center
(MSTC) was established by the Louisiana Board of Trustees for State Colleges
and Universities. Construction began in March 1989 and the first class
was held in June 1989. The offshore industry and local community generously
donated all of the equipment, services, and start up money for the Center.
Lafayette’s proximity to the Gulf of Mexico makes it the ideal
location for training offshore and inland waters workers. MSTC has come
a long way since 1989. Aside from survival craft training and underwater
helicopter egress training, the facility has expanded to include marine
fire safety and much more.Course Registration. To register for courses, please call (337) 262-5929. MSTC will work with your safety and training department to tailor courses to your specific needs. In-house course can often be arranged for dates not scheduled (minimum number of participants required). Many of our courses can be offered at other locations, including overseas. Please call if you have any questions. |
